Their soft, non-abrasive design helps protect cables from damage while allowing quick changes, additions, or reconfigurations. Available in a variety of lengths, widths, colors, and strengths, our hook and loop fasteners deliver reliable and customizable cable management for any project.

The Benefits of Hook and Loop Fasteners

Hook and loop fasteners are prized for their simplicity, versatility, and reusability. Unlike single-use fasteners, they can be opened and closed repeatedly without losing effectiveness, making them ideal for environments where cables are frequently moved or updated. They provide a secure hold while minimizing pressure on cables, reducing the risk of pinching, crushing, or insulation damage. Hook and loop fasteners are especially popular in networking, audio/visual, and electrical applications, where neat organization, fast installation, and easy maintenance are essential.

A Brief History of Hook and Loop Fasteners and Velcro® Brand

The concept of hook and loop fastening dates back to the late 1940s, when Swiss engineer George de Mestral observed how burrs from plants clung stubbornly to clothing and animal fur. Inspired by this natural mechanism, he developed a fastening system using tiny hooks and loops that could repeatedly attach and detach. This invention was commercialized in the 1950s under the Velcro® Brand name—a combination of the French words velours (velvet) and crochet (hook).

Initially adopted by aerospace and industrial applications, Velcro® Brand fasteners gained widespread recognition through use by NASA and later found their way into everyday products, from footwear and apparel to cable management and medical devices. Over the decades, hook and loop fasteners have continued to evolve with improved materials, stronger holding power, and specialized designs, cementing their role as a trusted, flexible fastening solution across countless industries.
